Today we left Evora, Portugal and drove our last bit of highway to the Lisbon Airport to drop off the rental car. An uneventful car return as we bid farewell to Marco (our VW Polo). A nice modern airport with smooth check in and security screening.
Then the wait started. We were early but had planned to kill some time and grab lunch. As we kept checking the departures board we started to notice that just about every TAP Airline flight was running late. As it turned out, we were 2 hours late taking off on our 1.5 hour flight to Barcelona.
We were able to keep in touch with our ride service and apartment agent and it all worked out without a hitch and we arrived at the apartment at around 9:45 pm. Luckily they had provided some food on the flight so we were OK with not having to find a restaurant tonight.
Only a couple of iPhone photos for today. Here is the building across the street, the Casa Batllo which we noted on the way to the Supermercado to pick up some breakfast supplies.
The view from our 9th floor terrace...
Once we got settled in we connected to the wifi and checked in on Facebook to find that our granddaughter, Molly, was undergoing emergency surgery for a seriously fractured elbow (playground cartwheel gone bad).
We managed to contact Laura and Jay on FaceTime to find out the details. We subsequently heard that the surgery went well but molly is in a lot of pain. Wish we were there to help but only a few more days and we will be able to see her.
